Alyssa Martinez is a civil rights attorney who works on issues related to police misconduct, conditions of confinement, barriers to re-entry, right to privacy, and corporate and governmental mistreatment of immigrants in detention facilities. She also puts on know-your-rights trainings for marginalized and vulnerable groups.
Alyssa has played soccer since age four and was part of the Olympic Development Program. During college, Alyssa transitioned her skills on the field to her school’s taekwondo program and was on the winning sparring team that scored enough points to pull the team from Division 3 to Division 2.
During her time in law school at Stanford, Alyssa continued her taekwondo career under the tutelage of a phenomenal coaching staff. She trained internationally with her team in Mexico and Korea, and she medaled as part of the 2018 Stanford Collegiate National Champions team.
