Bruce Berwald is a retired California Administrative Law Judge. He was also an Adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University School of Law, teaching Employment Law and Employment Discrimination. Prior to that, he was Director of Legal Services programs in Connecticut and Arizona and was awarded a Reginald Heber Smith Fellowship.

He directed two successful parcel-tax campaigns for the Los Gatos Union School District and served on its Board of Trustees for eight years.

Since his retirement, he has volunteered at and served on the boards of several non-profit groups in Santa Cruz County. After volunteering at Gault Elementary School for several years, he established a scholarship at Cabrillo College for former Gault students. He has three grown children and lives in Santa Cruz with his partner of 20 years, Janet Parker.
